The next two weeks we will see many of our DM's and Reps leave for Shire. Kate may even go to Shire and head things up there. She has done a great job over here.

Yeah right, Kate is banned from the ophthalmic world for any future opportunities. Unfortunately the shire leader is from B&L and has a pretty horrific track record of micro managing and being an absolute narcissist. But that doesn't mean plenty of Alcon people won't jump anyways. It'll be interesting for sure.

Don't forget Sun Pharma! Even better option.

LOL!! An Indian company that sells generic meds?? Am I missing something here?

They're launching a new portfolio of branded ophthalmic meds. But yes, Sun is mostly a generic company. Shire is the better option of the two, but both are great alternatives to the Novartis disaster formerly known as Alcon.

Both B&L and Allergan knew the Shire thing would be HUGE so they've given all their reps massive monetary incentives to stay thru to 2017, after the hiring waves elsewhere were done. You think Alcon was smart enough to think of something like that? We still can't even figure out how to set goals. Hell, we can't even get our top leader to stick around this train wreck longer than 2 weeks.

Alcon simply doesn't care. There will be many many people leaving in the next week in addition to all the vacancies that already exist. We are just a number to them and they don't care enough about the doctors or the reps to help preserve that relationship like allergan and B & L did.

Is everyone here in denial! Pharma, get out! Run. You are about to get laid off! Sun and shire are hiring everywhere. If you aren't looking you are probably the one getting axed. AND they probably won't hire you anyway. "Novartis" Pharma is a joke.

And there is no retention plan because they want you to leave. It's cheaper.

For people leaving to Join ZS pharma - it is a one-trick pony. Future resting on approval of a cation exchange resin designed to absorb potassium from the gut. Talk about 'medical need' when there already exist cheap ion exchange resins.

So can we thank our shire friends for this $20,000 bonus, which as usual has too many "if this happens and if that happens and if a monkey falls from the sky, you might get paid"? Our team hasn't lost anyone yet to Shire but I hear other areas have lost quite a few. Maybe more resignations still coming?

Except that Shire was able to get their Dr Eye product approved as an Rx which will be larger than the entire Alcon pharma revenue annually. ...Something R&D told us was "impossible" for the last 10 years or more...
