Ask your manager for the breakdown of the number of people in each performance ranking. No names, territories, or personally identifiable information, just the number in each ranking for the district. Do not allow yourself to be distracted by references to the region, as we are being ranked next to our district peers. Insist on transparency.

These are definitely forced rankings, and they're based on what what they shouldn't be (in this day in age at GSK), sales performance.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that we're in sales, and that we all (well most) want to be judged on sales performance. For those that are quick to judge me, and pass me off as some hack who can't cut it, I have been successful in outside B2B, at other pharma companies, and here at GSK. For God knows why, I have embraced the notion that things are getting better at GSK, that greener pastures lay ahead HERE with the leadership changes and the doing away with the COTS.

I was snapped back to reality yesterday afternoon after receiving my calibration score (forced ranking). I know that we don't have goals or quotas, but sales number came very much into play during my discussion with my manager. I had made great strides last year to change the way I was working. I looked at the numbers differently, targeted docs differently, etc etc. Last year my numbers were typically above my district, at/above the region, and frequently at/above the nation. However, I was ranked lower than anticipated. When I asked my manager why, she said that the impact wasn't there. She later clarified that "impact" definitely meant sales numbers. Even though I did as good or in some cases better than some of my peers sales wise, I apparently didn't hit some magic number.

Again, I get that we're sales people, and checking COT boxes don't keep the lights on, but in a company that very proudly proclaims (thanks to the CIA we operate under) that sales reps aren't being incentivized on sales goals, we very much are. Worse yet, these arbitrary goals that reps need to hit aren't shared with us.

In the end, whether I make the same or even less, I'd rather be paid on sales performance, as at least I'd have a clear path of where I need to go, and the goal I'm shooting for. I guess transparency wins again at GSK! Good luck to all as you get your calibration score/forced ranking in the next few days.

Remember what a very intelligent gray hair once said. " If you are unhappy with GSK, simply quit. It's as easy as that ! "

Wow. I'd hate to think what the moronic gray hair said. Possibly one and the same.

The thing about the GSK board is that I am able to relive sixth grade humor. Always funny and witty

In your part of the organization, were interim ratings communicated or were the ratings only communicated recently? Did your part of the organization strictly adhere to the forced ratings of 4 and 5 ratings?

China was forced ranked ahead of us...another big fine that GSK-DA has to pay. No wonder people hate working here.

15 percent had to be 4 or 5. Innovation at its finest, I think we are turning the corner. Forward SAW!
