I've heard many have already had a f2f in Atlanta last week and were promised offers next week. I had a phone interview last week and was told I would be moved forward but I have yet to be contacted to schedule a f2f. I have over 10 years in pharm sales. Are they interviewing in waves depending on background or territory? Does anybody know approx. how many reps for Ophthamology are being hired Nationally? Thank you in advance for your insight.

Yes, they are conducting interviews in waves. No offers were given this week in Atl, and no 'promises of offers' were made. We were all told that a phone call would come in the weeks to come.

How do I you know thai no offers were given? I'm sure there were offers given to some. There were many very qualified people, including past BL people. So I'm sure there were some offers given.

Of course this whole process is happening in waves. It is a lot to hire an entire new sales forces. I don't doubt some have received offers. I had my 2nd phone screen, yesterday.
Any clue what the start date is given the drug is not getting approved until July?

They will probably put everyone out there after training with some unbranded campaign on disease state. Be careful, these j'offs running things know no boundaries and will push the envelop because they think they are above it all. Take notice and if something doesn't feel right, it's probably not.

This is true, offers have been made and rejections doled out.

I heard the offers are less than stellar. Small increases and some are being offered less.

Original poster here - I appreciate the kind and insightful posts. My friend interviewed last week in ATL and they told her she would hear this coming week if an offer was forthcoming. She has experience calling on Ophthalmologists. I think the first wave was with reps with built in relationships. Offers will be made and any holes filled in with the rest of us. I do know that if you submit a resume with pharm experience you will be granted a phone interview so the pool is enormous.

Yep, it's insulting. I declined mine, this is sales is all about negotiations but these offers are non-negotiable!? Shows they don't value you, or what you bring to the table.

I can actually say for the first time, I am glad they passed me over by not even granting me a face to face, THANK YOU!!!!!

i heard a few RD's were made offers and turned Shire down based on the salary since there was no negotiation! Does anyone know what the set predetermined base salary was for the RD position in Ophthalmology?

This is all Kathy Kobe and her stubborn, arrogant attitude. She sets the rules in her world without any input from anyone.

When she first arrived at Shire, her and her buddy from the KAM team couldn't stop complaining about the salaries of some of the people here. Only problem with their argument is these people actually proved themselves to earn it and are now at other companies doing even better. Your loss Kathy and Shire! Good luck with your stellar B&L team of rejects!!!!!!
