What is a career dissipation light?
And please don't use the Merck Manual as a reference.

And then please explain why you're still employed at Merck.
Susan has good company in the loose "canon" department.

Yes, we did get let go, and now are contractors working for you. But the funny thing is, it is the same work with more pay and no real responsibility. It's like being on easy street. So all in all, not a bad deal! Can you say the same?

Regardless, Sue must go! She's bad karma! Also, she has had numerous complaints lodged against her with HR. But no action taken! Yet, Rick keeps her around. Time for him to go too! Besides, he's such am engaging leader.

We have Obamacare and social security! What more do you need, as you'll soon learn. But you must be an older employee who has let their skillset wither on the vine (yelling, being impatient for results or holding meetings don't constitute a skill set in today's hyper cometeitive world). So the real question is what are you going to do when Mother does not care any more? If she ever did?

As the world becomes more global and tech companies disrupt traditional business models you should be asking how many displaced executives will land on their feet, in similar jobs? Which, by the way, that took 20 years to obtain in the first place. Unless you're that very rare breed who started out playing rock in a garage only to be come a rockstar later. However, I am sad to say that I don't believe that's the case because you read these blogs. What superstar has time for it?

Then when it's your turn to get off the ride you'll be thankful for Obamacare! My advice is up skill yourself because you'll not be able to complete in an ever changing world that is becoming flatter. And if you too get let go, how much golf can you play and how well have you saved? It will be more challenging if you have children still at home or in college. Remember, we're living longer these days too.

Good luck and luck favors one who is prepared, not one who is satisfied. The satisfied get eaten by the young!

Susan's bad behavior is notorious. It dates back to when she started in MMD. She would dismiss everyone from a meet except one person, only to yell at the remaining person in private. Is intimidation leadership?

I agree, she must go! Her behavior would not be tolerated in the public sector so why do we tolerate it at Merck? HR needs to step up and right this egregious wrong.

    Susan must go!

    No skin in this game.

But it's clear that certain posters who feel compelled to "educate" others need some remediation themselves in today's "cometeitive" world.

The reason they didn't let her go is because she will be retiring soon. HR is hedging its bets so that they wouldn't have to do any work.

Susan moving to Prague? We know you love Prague. You can help Branton whip them into shape and organize the place to becoming more productive. Besides, Westby can not organize a two car parade. So you'll have your work cutout for you. Good luck.

This is all planned. The execs taking shifts to go enjoy Prague on company/ex-pat expense. What a shame but do hope they whip those guys into shape.

Sue Carroll must go! Sue must go! She is the worst human being on the planet! Sue must go! She thinks it is sport to upset people in her organization. What kind of a leader is that?

Funny you say that. A few years back, I once saw her surrounded by men in BRN one day chit chatting with her.

She is still there because she must be doing something 'right' in Branton's eyes. At the end of the day, they are all ruthless to their subordinates.

This bi**h would have been gone years ago had she been a male employee. Merck in its endless quest for diversity kept her around since she helped with diversity numbers at the ED level, plus she has a history of discrimination claims against employers who take action on her. The former CIO wanted her fired, so did a former VP but Richie boy said he could work with her. Yep, Rich loves the skirts - always did. He would never tolerate her behavior from a male. And people wonder why Merck is going nowhere quickly. Sales growth is a disaster, the clinical programs are a disaster and so is morale.
