med safety and R&D will bear the brunt first. Towers gutted as pharma people absorbed into Novartis pharma and management layers "right sized". With pharma gone have to cut higher ups in surgical and vision to keep the P&L at least flat. Actually the FW manufacturing folks will get a pass in 2016 believe it or not - they are joining Novartis manufacturing and are running hard. This time the fat comes out where it ought . . .

I can see that happening. I am just wondering how good is Alcon's Soverance package? Folks that have been there for years will enjoy the cake.

That might also mean layoffs in manufacturing. JJ also said that too many manufacturing plants are producing the same things so consolidation was going to happen.

They're already moving on that with Suffern, Mississauga, Kaysersberg. I'm sure there's more.

Don't be worried if you are good in what you are doing you can get an Opportunity elsewhere tomorrow, life will better.

on the contrary - you should be worried. If you are still around, chances are that you are not really good at what you are doing. People who were are already long gone.

    Most!
up to 49% of staff may be let go , and it would still be true that most of you wont be affected

Most of us won't be affected?!!!?? That's probably true because 50% of the 49% were at Alcon for ages. So their soverance package will be beefy.
