To protect the patients and our interest, please sell Alcon to any one in the world. At least the Novartis investors can recover some money of their 55 Bio before Alcon dies

you have no clue to run a surgical and splty ph company. sell it, before Alcon collapses, the loss is to the investors, doctors and patients.

Dont worry. Joe is announcing a "revamp program" in January. Another "slash and burn" I would be guessing.

I dont think Joe will do anything. He and his ECN still think Alcon is like selling calcium sandoz! say 3 times V&B, write blog and it sells!

btw Now Sandoz is doing well and Alcon is sinking ! does it show anything?

he first needs to think who will run the corporation, Lawyers or Business leaders! well the lawyers and accountants will pull any suggestion in this direction, because then they become jobless! like mythical Y2K problem and how IT companies made money, these lawyers keep on showing threats to keep their upperhand and job while the investors 55 BIO is gone to the gutter!

Oh Doc! they wont sell Alcon now. Still some heavy garbages left in Europe and they will pack it to Asia and park there in Alcon! so Europe NVS P&L look better!

the investors of NVS has no clue otherwise such an ECN would not have survived so long!

well, if they dont sell, i would say the investors are the biggest fools. given their 55 Bio into the hands of JJ & JG to charity.

Or they could do like HP did with Autonomy and take it in the ass.

Who would buy Alcon? Certainly not anywhere close to the US$55B that JJ paid for it! The Alcon you once knew is dead doc, all that is left of it is a shell that is but a carcass of what it once was. JG has no clue as to what is really happening within this once great company and he's not likely to revive it.

If you analyze JG's responses at the Novartis 3Q earnings report meeting he clearly did not understand what the root cause of Alcon's ills are. If you don't know what's causing the dismal performance of your business, how can you fix it?

Do you know what the root cause is?

    1. instaling new 'leadership' with no knowledge of the eyecare biz/Alcon history and therefore lack the gravitas in the eyes of the eyecare community.
    2. letting go of the good legacy Alcon vets who really know the biz and well respected by the eye care community.also, keeping the wrong legacy ones.
    3. putting 'greenhorns' and inexperienced people and lots of externals in key R&D, finance, mrktg, sales, etc. with lack knowledge of alcon/eyecare biz.

Well, that and Novartis' priorities are in their ass! They'll pour money into a data center, a new cafeteria, and summerfuckingfest but nothing for groups that badly need the money like pharma and IOL. It's not that they're not developing anything....they're not getting funded! 3 years to approve a few million dollars in badly needed improvements is ridiculous! But I saw PO's for millions of dollars to consulting companies.

Maybe Novartis should consult with Disney on how to fix morale at Alcon? O wait, that's exactly what they did. No kidding that's what it's come to. Disney. Mickey Freaking Mouse is telling Novartis how to fix Alcon. That's their "innovative" idea.

How bout this....sell us to anyone who would operate hands off (pipe dream I know) but how did that work out under Nestle???

Nestle is still laughing, I can hear it from here.

and appointing the lacky of NVS execs in Alcon to lead (look at the new Surg Fr Hd coming into Asia, whats his expertise ? was assistant to JJ ! wow what a qualification to be a key emerging markets SFH!

and look at all those european NVS baggages parked in asia and key global markets, definetly we can expect another -10% in 2016

    root cause?

    1. lack of understanding business.
    2. thinking surgical business is like pharma
    3. lawyers and accountants running business
    4. making Alcon as parking lot for non performing NVS execs
    5. chasing out surgical guys and replacing with SZ & PH guys
    6. too many changes, and creating too much confusions
    7. lack of decision making on time and dragging things and call it "collaboration"

And ZERO accountability. I feel horrible for our sales people out there trying to make something out of nothing.
Across all Alcon discussions it's one manufacturing, production, distribution, back order issue after another. Can't forecast, produce goals or even have the slightest idea how to predict performance. It's like Novartis had no baseline and started a business cold turkey.

    So sad.

No one knows fuck all or gives a shite about the root causes to problems within and across levels in a company like Alcon - or are we Novartis? - or any other socio-political-economic structure.

    Think about it.

Does anyone truly give a shite about the root causes of this so-called Islamic State international terrorist Jihad? Of course not. Just do something to make it shut up and go away. I don't want to get my white collar hands dirty. Redirect capital flows to modify or destroy mental and physical phenomena of Nature that I don't want to truly understand.

Are you working for this outfit for the money, to make the world a better place, both, something else? Which comes first? If I had to make an offer you couldn't refuse?

Alcon or Novartis is no different than your typical run-of-the-mill authoritarian, quasi-communist regime. We have roles and get paid to perform said roles within defined parameters, with the rules subject to reinterpretation without our individual consent. OK, we do have a choice to stay here, but you can't refute the economic benefits of riding this international syndicate of the highest-level of our world's capitalistic culture. And in a culture where the quest for ever-increasing margins becomes #1 priority of owners and their executors, a for-profit healthcare company like Novartis and its peers will, on balance, typically shaft its customers and employees at the expense of higher share prices and dividends. This stands to reason one must be high as fuck not to be able to see through the rose-colored contact lenses he wears. And, that's been a habit which has proven unfortunately too hard to pop out of.

The world has gone mad when it accepts the defects of the current situation as the best of all possible worlds.

Innovation tops the list of our values, does it not?

The root cause is NVS. They bought a Ferrari but hired a Yugo driver to drive it and expect to win the race.

Do not worry we will be sold, NVS has to unload the hot potato onto the next fool. Soon!
