most stock options are under water, have been for a longtime. Industry has always been micro managed and only gets worse. What always got me was a rep who had been with the company for years and had 90percent plus of his markets and was not any good when glaxo went to pat first and started promoting all of these 90 day wonders to DM. You had to be a complete dolt to buy into pat first.

Please please please please give me any manager but mine. Please reorg. My manager is useless and HR does not care, I went that route. HR is pathetic. My manager is a horrible distraction and makes up rules that don't exist, and ignores rules that do exist. Help.

To the last post. Are you just complaining or have you really gone to HR? HR will act if you have a legitimate complaint. Maybe you are just a whiner? Maybe it's just you? Stop complaining and go to HR! Be specific with your issues and document your discussion. If you have a real issue, HR will act. Very slow, but they will act. Otherwise, shut the hell up! Put on your "big boy pants", get off your a$$, and get to work. Or go on a paid leave of absence. While your out, go find another job. See what it's like out there. See what the market will pay a lazy piece of crap. I guarantee you that you will make half of what you make now. Prove me wrong. Now, shut the F up and stop the whining already! Whaaahhh whaahh my manager is mean. Whaaahh, i make six figures. Whaahh, I get a company car. Whaahh, benefits. Whahh, Whaaah. Do you see how f-ing annoying you are?

^ dude you need to chillax! The poster said HR didn't help. I've heard situations where HR really wasn't doing much to help the lower guy on the list but that could depend on situation. The company needs to release some of its managers. Waste of resources truly.

We have had too many since our merger. That is a way of life for GSK. Things will always be the same.....many have tried to fix the problem and many have been kicked out.

True. We don't need as many managers as we currently have. Totally agree. But can my fellow reps please stop the complaining? Really people. We make over 100K w/ a car, insurance, retirement, and quite a bit of vacation. If you don't like it, leave! Many of us NEED this job. Many of us are tired of the mockery many of you have made this profession (mostly mommies). Dose GSK make foolish decisions? Yes! Are there managers who just don't get it and micro-manage reps to the point of a nervous breakdown? Yes!!! But what are the alternatives?

The alternative is automated approval of expenses and firing of about 1/3 of DM's. Then give reps a nice pay increase. That'd work.

When nobody leaves, they either get promoted or laid off.

it's useless ... this place is hopeless, vision-less management, and field mgrs are anything but leaders. just collecting a paycheck and trying to make a difference with my customers for my own self-respect. Lord knows there's no real motivation other than waiting for better days but I've lost hope for that too. Glad to have a job but that goes without saying. frustrated, underutilized and supervised by a dope who doesn't get it.

Hey old dude, not everyone makes 100K, but you're right ... there's no use in complaining because GSK has proven they don't care about morale, we tell them offices don't want too many reps, too many mgrs coming in with reps to see the same customers monthly, blah, blah, blah ... and what do they do? They create another manager in addition to the GSK mgrs called, Excellence Coaches! But I think the Excellence Coaches are actually more motivating than our "box-checking GSK mgrs". Feel more confidence and actually enjoy working with the Excellence Coach than I do with my own mgr who is overly critical to the point of nauseam and ridiculousness. Managers are really the ones that are redundant and unnecessary. Wish that upper mgt would realize that they can save a lot of money getting rid of 30-40% of GSK mgrs especially the ones that only have 6-7 reps. A lot of these roles can be filled with Excellence Coaches.
