It's a dog. No match for adc. Like taking candy from a baby.

Came across an old post from this thread that is soooo true about ADC. Some things never change here!

OH, ya, its the reps alright. Lets see, Big mama coming from Mexico was the perfect choice to run sales. She knew absolutely nothing about the business or product. How about Skippy running mgd care and retail. Another mgt choice of where do we put this guy so he wont do any damage? How about all the other women/minority placements where they obviously know nothing about the business. How many times does this scenario have to replay itself and management blames sales? You gotta be kidding. Look at the turnover of mgt in last several years. Can you say ADC=Abbott training ground for women, minorities, and old abbott cronies that they want to put somewhere that they wont do any damage and let them linger until retirement(skip, big mama, dunker, saundra S, well, you get the picture). Is it any wonder this place is a joke????

Are you saying Dunky is not a best in class leader? Many of those leaders that you mention have kept the ADC ship afloat.

The family of Seth Williamson would disagree.

Yes, yes Karl... Now here's another beer.

(It takes a special kind of stupid to use "leader" and reference "Dunky" in the same sentence. ADC's fate was sealed by other factors, and was destined to fail, that's true. But Dunky's antics didn't help, and his narcissism and self destructive behavior makes this a miserable place.)

All of those "leaders" were flushed down the Abbott toilet from other divisions. Unfortunately, the end of the pipe has all to often been Alamdea. There's to one thing you can attribute Duncan that was successful. Unless you count getting some naive young rep drunk and in bed at a sales meeting. Navigator? Promise? What did any of these retreads do? ADC US sales performance says all we need to know. If ADCwas an NFL team, Duncan would have been fired after his 3rd year.

Watch your mouth son. Your momma didn't teach you not to use certain words. Nobody uses the R work unless you're a no good punk.

Uh does longevity mean anything to you? Adc is most stable meter company on market.

Unless you count market share and sales. But I guess you might equate a slow, steady, 10 year decline as stable. A "glide path". Eventually though the glide runs into the ground.

Dunky and his team game to ADC with a 15 year plan to take them to retirement. So far they are on plan. Another 4-5 years before striking pay dirt.

I'm getting very nervous about the next round of layoffs, given how poor the business has been all year. We've never gone this long, almost a whole year, without a stable cut back. I can tell my boss is not confident at all. What are you guys hearing?

End of January , just like the big cuts in 2013 and 2014. At least 120....if they don't sell us first. Old rumor but what else can ABT do with this division?

Clearly something is up, and I can tell my boss is nervous too. The numbers are bad, have been all year, which has always resulted in lay offs before. Then there is the desperate pressers on what are for all practical purposes phantom new products, things that will not actually launch for years, and will no real impact on the numbers anyway when they do.

My guess is whatever sale they were working on fell through, which means ADC has to do a big cost cutting again.

You just described the long term history of Adc going back 10 years. Same old tune. I was an original Medisense person and made my money and left while the getting was good. It's been a downward trend for a decade and somehow has stayed afloat. Amazing how this light weight ship has never sunk traveling the rough seas over the years.

Any sale of ADC always fails for one key reason - the business structure and it's likely revenue are completely mismatched.

No commodity business can succeed in the modern diabetes market structured like ADC. It's not just the 3 different sites, there are multiple departments that do pretty much the same thing. For example at Witney UK there are departments for Project Engineering, Systems Engineering, Development Engineering and Third Party manufacturing engineering. All have separate managers!

Any buyer would not just have to consolidate to one site. All internal departments would have to radically restructure as well. It would be a chaotic transition in a difficult market, and buyers are steering well clear. Abbott is going to have to restructure the business first before anyone will be interested.

And restructure means lots of layoffs. Reduce redundancy, reduce costs. I am surprised ADC did not have any big RIFs as in the past. Maybe the surprise success of Libre caught them off guard and management did not want to rock the boat...

What are the thoughts on this? Big layoff at the end of Jan? 2014 was the last time we had any large chops.
