Sweet! I'll take my severance and a year off. Six months into my layoff/vacation will go get a job with Inventive, PDI, or some home health company. It's all good!

I sure hope the older reps who kick back, fake calls, don't work and brag about their 10 hour work week get the ax first. Earlier poster was right, this industry is in decline.

I got laid off from GSK in 2010. Severance was good, but it has nothing to do with sales numbers or ratings or whatever you have now. It was all geography and number of reps, I understood, but will never forgive. I spent almost 15 years there, won Winner's Circle etc.... be wary. I had several great managers, I hear they are managing older, more expensive reps and managers out by making their territories far away from where they live. Although my layoff was the saddest thing, because I loved GSK, I have moved on. Go for it and don't for one minute think anyone will have your back. and they always say that it is an independent company who does layoff metrics and boom... Three layoffs in three years, I got whacked in 2010.

You ARE a slacker. You’ll definitely be one of the freeloaders making this country a welfare state.

No, you have not completely moved on like you claim in your post. You are still a regular visitor here on CP, and posting as well. It proves that you are still bitter and have not moved on.

Previous layoffs have been the last 8 quarters performance.

Trust me, performance has very little to do with it.

What performance? Based on sales results? Based on subjective field contact reports? Based on how many times you ticked off customers with “challenger” questions? Based on how many offices locked out reps due to pushy management “tactics” designed to “help you”.

Your ass- kissing performance is heavily weighted. Then it’s sex, age, weight, race, religion, geography, and political leanings.
Sales performance is last on the list.
Everyone with half a brain knows that performance is 80% formulary access, 10% physician access, and 10% rep. If you don’t believe that, you’re delusional.

Time to warm up the network. Found a pharma sales conference in Princeton Nov9th on eventbrite. I emailed and told them I got laid off and they got a sponsor to pay for my pass.

Agreed... This company does not reward top performers. I have no idea what the criteria are but it surely is not performance. I'm lookin to get out ASAP since I make nothing on bonus and salary is not much. Sick of my manager as well!

So what is "salary not so much"? Just curious because I am at another company & was wondering how it compares to GSK.
