Those folks about to lose their jobs in Charlotte, NC are the result of one of Rotech's ill thought out plans to centralize services on the east coast. They modeled this CSC after one in the Midwest. It was all done in a hush hush manner, with some of the staff hand picked and sent out west for training.

Newly hired staff were given basic training and then given the responsibility to take over duties of the CSRs in multiple stores. They had no history with a location's physicians, hospitals or patients. Whenever a store was contacted the call went to the CSC. This left a lot of the referral sources and patients irritated with Rotech's service.

Next comes the huge RIF of 2014 whenever many CRS and some LCMs along with other staff members were let go. Along with this went years of education and training, even before the experiment of the CSC was proven.

Now that it has been shown that it did not work, along with the Medicare cuts, they are moving patient and referral services back to the locations.

What management should do is to renegotiate pay scales.

Same old thing that has been going on for years. Make decisions, take action, then realize you made a huge mistake because you did not strategically think things out and then they try to undo it. That is their MO. And of course, the biggest one that could eventually sink the company is the bankruptcy with being blind to all the VA contracts that would be lost. That is more then likely the biggest elephant in the room, can not be undone, and could eventually be fatal considering government contracts are huge in this business.

Are you kidding? This is what they have done before. Just before a quarter is up so that there are less employees to pay a bonus. They do not care about their employees. It's business as usual to them. Bottom line.

I would propose that to most, getting that pink slip is their dream come true.
At least 6 months of paid vacation with unemployment.

Don't forget that they may get severance pay if they have been with Rotech for a while. Yes, may have been an answer to their prayers.

Severance package was based on how long you were there. Hourly workers were given 1 wks pay for every yr employed up to 10 weeks. Management was given 1 wks pay for every yr worked. In the first article it said that Federal law required notice in mass layoffs. Those over 1000 employees laid off in 2013 were not given any notice. Is this a new law?

Why do people keep calling theses Severance packages .With a real Severance package you dont have to sign certain Rights away (like the bogus package rotech offers)

This cadre of clowns and their consultants in Orlando couldn't run a successful hot dog stand. Hit and miss, trial and error is NOT how you run a business this big.. We need proven experience at the helm of this ship not some moron who sold his business to Rotech to avoid bankruptcy..

Yeah, After wasting millions on their half baked schemes the people that actually do all the work are the ones who pay. I can't what for this circus to be shut down. Another FBI raid in a few areas could be all it takes to put these clowns out on the street where they belong.

If this circus shuts down its STILL just the folks that actually do ALL the work who will pay. The fools that sunk us will take their fat severance checks and find a job wrecking another company.

None of this matters anymore. As soon as Hillary, Trump or Bernie are in the oval office we are headed for cuts that will put us all out of a job as we spiral towards a single payer system. It's what has been planned all along.

I have to agree with you. All three candidates don't think Obamacare went far enough. The local DME companies are falling like dominos because they can't stay open with all the cuts. It wouldn't surprise me that within a decade all of us are out of business... It's only a matter of time. Even great management ( something we don't have ) can steer us away from the abyss when the federal government is pushing us over.
