I heard about 10 reps are leaving for a company called PCT. What is the future of this division? I can't seem to find leads for my rep. How many patients are out there? Do you think they would promote us to the vacated territories?

It is well known the R&D group is largely unproductive, and as a result the company will actively acquire products to sell regardless of the price -see Dyax. That's good news for us.

There are not many patients left. Shire does not understand rare disease. Stay away from this division.

Several have already left because the opportunity is about gone. Most of the patients have already been uncovered during the first two years of the launch. During their market research, nps stated that they expected the product to hit its peak at the four year mark and it will hit year three in January.
There are very few patients left and the patients that are on drug discontinue at a high rate. Shire does not understand how to avoid this discontinuation.
Best to avoid this position. If shire was smart they would just dissolve and fold into GI.

Seriously? Most of the GI reps aren't even close to qualified enough to sell gattex. Actually the GI senior leadership is not even close to qualified to sell gattex. They are absolutely clueless as to how to maximize the potential of this product. Why do you think half the team is running out of here?

Wait, don't despair. We have Perry to lead us. I'm sure he'll find an answer, or just make something up like he usually does.

That guy coming onboard was the first sign that ship is taking on water.

There will be openings soon. 8 reps have accepted jobs at PTC. I wouldn't work in this division though. There are few patients left. Good luck.

i was ironically contacted in atlanta but won't take a job until Shire stops doing business with Technekes.

That is funny! Technekes is awful. A friend worked for them and she mentioned same. Low pay and unrealistic expectations.

the gattex division is so funny. The NSD doesn't have a clue how to handle a team of this caliber. Her boss may be even more clueless than she is. The new IC plan for this year is a joke and a third of the sales force is about to leave. Half the sales leadership team left as soon as they could and the others aren't far behind. This drug lost all of its momentum when shire took over and senior leadership is fully to blame.

Why are patients discontinuing? Is it the limited reduction in parenteral nutrition achieved or some other payer or side effect issue?

They are discontinuing due to lack of education. Patients don't know what to expect anymore because the sales team can't talk to them. It was a great ride but it's done.

My Gattex rep told me they increased your goal? How? Are there more patients out there than we knew about? I wanted to join this division but it sounds like you wont be making much in bonus this year. I'll stick with Lialda thanks!

If anything, there are fewer patients than originally thought. NPS initially thought 3-5k. However 2k is probably more accurate. Basically you've got a marketing team that doesn't want to listen to what customers and the field is telling them.

You guys must be getting big bonuses for a drug that costs 400,000 a year. How much do you get per patient?
