so if you are forced to re-interview for a job and they don't hire you will they still be forced to give you a severance? Sounds like they are trying to screw us all once again. I personally will not be sticking around for a SP even though it would be significant but something for the st of you to ponder.

Illegal to make you re-interview, there are fair-labor laws, you were officially hired and severance is on DSI's books (once they announce a layoff they're locked to it). DSI's only options are to terminate for cause (if you're not documented on a plan, once the layoff was announced it will be VERY difficult for them to establish cause without VERY easy to prove unfair bias), or pay the severance in accodance with the DSI policy manual. So... they are going to lay everyone off and re-hire... or, keep everyone, have this 'competition' and if you're not selected, pay you severence.

This is going to be a complete mess. Curious if you are not interested in a position after all this insanity. Would you still get a package? The easiest and most appropriate thing is to give people the option. What if you don't care for the manager or the geography? The professional thing to do is offer the option so people can walk away with something. But I won't hold my breath on this one.

    In response to poster #8:

I feel your pain. I have no interest in working for this company anymore especially trying to sell (beg doctors which I will never do) products that no one wants or has much of a need for, plus they are outrageously expensive and no patient can either A) afford them, or B) justify spending their hard on dollars on rent, mortgage, insurance, etc., or a pill to help you poop in the night when OTC laxatives work just fine. With that being said, I have a family to support and I have to work just like most.

Management in this company is so inhumane, from DMs to ABDs. All they care about the bottom line. Push harder and tell your doctors that their patients need these pills. Sorry, no can do anymore. My doctors don't want this crap we're peddling. Movantik in a niche drug at best while Savaysa cannot compete with the other anticoags and is just simply way too costly with no MC coverage and more expensive than the other options with no clear clinical advantage that justifies the price.

    Cant sell this garbage anymore.

Agreed. Remember that Senior Management cares nothing for you, your family, and your situation. Asking people to interview for their jobs is tremendously unprofessional. I'm sure this is an HR move to protect the company from legal issues. So nobody can claim racism, age discrimination, or having too high a salary. They can simply filter through all of that by saying that you didn't perform well enough during the interview. Sneaky. But that's business, and it happens more times than not. I would agree that the right thing to do is offer a package if you have no interest interviewing for your job. There is not much to be excited about here at all anymore. But they will continue to sell you otherwise.

Not if you're an "at-will" employee. Read your contract. They can get rid of you whenever they so choose.

new hire here. This company blows. Training blows. Leadership?? Haven't seen one example of it. Communication? Not a drop. Dreading the two weeks of training away from my family. Dreading. Not good at faking it. Why go? Only reason I can think of is to force them to pay me a little longer. I've never worked for a more passion-less, disgusting group of people.

Wow. The ethical classy thing would be for you to find a new job and never look back. Ethics?! I went through three rounds of layoffs in two years with DSI. For a company that sells blood pressure medication, they sure do love to raise your blood pressure! You want to talk ethics? how about not pretending you live in a land of cupcakes and gummy bears? There's a start! Don't even get me started on classy. this is probably coming from the same DM that doesn't know how to dress when going into offices, or the DM that doesn't take referrals because he/she doesn't trust his/her own team. I quit in June. I will say, my bonus I just got was one of the higher bonuses I've received from DSI. Funny how that works.

They don't care. Neither should you. Use them as they use you. Get what you need in order to secure a better situation for you and your family. Yes, your family. Not your job. That's where your "passion" should be. The things that really matter most in life. Not a superficial sales job. It's also quite comical watching management act with the "business as usual" mantra. Typical corporate management techniques employed during a crisis situations. Accountability? Thanks for the memories DSI.

Are you talking about PP? Haha, if not, there are other DM's with the same behavior.

Right, but DSI has a severance policy, so if you get got rid of whenever they so choose, they have to pay you according to that plan. If they fire you, if you're not on a plan, if you have no documented screw ups, they're gonna have to prove the firing cause. When the layoffs were announced, DSI established hostile bias, and firing cause became extremely difficult for them to prove, and extremely easy for even a brand new labor attorney to prove unfair firing. A lost unfair firing lawsuit costs a lot more to settle than severance.

Yes, everyone is "at will" -- there is no CONTRACT. It's an offer letter which will specifically
state no guarantee of continued employment.
That being said - it's not illegal either because of point #1 - at will. You can leave or they can ask you to leave at ANY time for cause or not.

And... if they ask you to leave, and you didn't get fired, you're entitled to the severence package outlined it the policy. It's pretty simple, and will probly make sense if you ever sober up.
