The news keeps saying Cardinal is the winner. If I was "the other guys" I'd be scared to death of the ensuing prices war that Cardinal will play. They'll definitely beat Medtronic in the race to least features, least price.

The once great Cordis is now dead.

Somebody has got to write a book or article. They must have made more money protecting patents in lawsuits than they did on sales of products.

I agree w everything above. Sad day as a former guy that bled Cordis Blue for many years.

That said, I wonder where Incraft AAA fits in here? Still have a surgeon I am close with who has been a dyed in the wool Gore-ite for 20 years. He says Incraft is the real deal. Doing cases, difficult cases in 45 minutes that took him 2-3 hours to do w Gore. I couldn't believe what he was telling me. Will be interesting to follow from afar.

I agree re incraft have been hearing good things and it is taking share in a short time. Will JNJ really let this crown jewel go with the Cordis sale?

Unless Cardinal works like hell to retain the Cordis sales force and acknowledges the differences between a physician call point and Materials Management / GPO contract negotiation, there will be no value here except as a distributor of well-established, commoditized cardiovascular products. InCraft and other advanced products are dead in the water. IP will be used for patent trolling rather than product development. This is just awful news.

I don't agree, too much investment has gone into the production and selling of Incraft for it to be dead in the water. Let's not forget that Cardinal has a medical devices division as well as operations in Europe and other regions. The Endo profuct range could be an interesting fit.

Massive exodus expected at ML, FL. Retirement qualifying Cordis' associates have their retirement papers ready to submit after the Town hall communication on Monday (myself included). Expect for J&J CREDO trashing parties to come. R.I.P. Cordis. As for the associates left out in the rain, my prayers. Live Long and Prosper…

As a volume seller of commodity products, no. As a seller of technologically advanced medical devices? I'm not optimistic.

They'll leave you guys alone and you'll basically be run as an independent division of Cardinal for the most part.

If you browse these boards it becomes apparent our once proud industry is being ravaged and it's a shame, most of us with tenure recall a day when relationships and honest hard work meant a future now it means a paycheck and a hope that tomorrow doesn't bring a re-org or a downsize that eliminates our role.

Get over yourself and stop trying to justify your job on an anonymous website. Heaven forbid you actually have to go out and SELL something instead of relying on your relationships w/ dr's that were formed on the golf course over the past 10+ years. Dr's are in practice to do whats in the best interest of the patient, not your wallet. Sounds like you're a bitter old timer who thinks they're entitled to something. Newsflash: Obamacare is hurting all of us, so change & adapt or get out.

first you are entitled to your opinion however I completely disagree. I've never worked for Cordis but I have worked in lock step with their Reps and I can say with compete honesty they work with great knowledge and ethics, truth be told probably the most competent Sales folks in the room. You contradict yourself when saying business is bought on the golf course yet Docs care about patients which they certainly do so I digress. It sounds to me that the bitter person here is you, the comments posted above seem to be a fair assessment of the market conditions in medical device.

What has happened to existing employees now that purchase by Cardinal Health is completed? Are all employees automatically retained by Cardinal Health? Did some have the ability to stay with jnj? What happened to all of the original retirement and other benefits offered by jnj?

I am hearing that most things are staying in place until Jan. They're VP of Sales is out though.

It will be interesting to see how they incorporate the Mynx reps. Split the bag and make them coronary and closure?

So what's the skinny these days has Cardinal managed slash/burn the money these days? I always admired the Cordis Reps but I'm guessing the glory days are long gone.

It is tough to see what happened to Cordis. They went from changing the transcatheter landscape to simply being a closure company. Years of mismanagement, specifically putting leaders in place that filled a quota and had no clue on how to run a business
