Anyone applying for Vaccines SHR jobs? What's your opinion on this new position?

Specialty position with large geography. Probably would be the first jobs to go if/when downsizing.

They were told from upper management to promote from their current vaccines teams. Of course they'll never admit to this because Pfizer is run by lawyers. Sad really. If they just told everyone this from the beginning they could save all of us outside vaccines a lot of trouble. They are only interviewing people outside the division to appear fair. It's bullshit. I'm tired of bullshit. I'm a big girl, tell me how it is, I won't sue. Treat us like adults instead of a bunch of tity babies who can't handle the truth. Pfizer and their lawyers are fucking ridiculous. And now I'm dropping the mic!

Vaccines is not GIP. The SHR position is here to stay. Look at the pipeline. All institutional type products.

I figured as much. Considering anyone can do these jobs, they have nothing to lose by keeping it in house.

I joined Vaccines from PC about a year ago, and the sale is very different. Knowing the way to sell in Vaccines is going to be important in this SHR job, too. Maybe try learning a new skill and then progressing?

BTW, the culture here in Vaccines is great. By reading your post, I suspect your entitled attitude would not advance you very far in the interviews.

Entitled attitude? How is simply saying to tell us all the truth about who they are looking to hire and entitled attitude? I'm happy to post and compete, I simply don't want to go through the interview process if it's already known they are hiring from within the division. I actually think hiring from within the division for a promoted position is a smart idea, I simply want them to cut out the bullshit of looking like they're giving everyone a fair shot. I'm happy to compete for the open phr job once someone is promoted. So entitled attitude, I think not. I suggest you keep your judgmental and presumptuous comments to yourself.

Each division promotes from within, what's the big deal.
If you want to get into vaccines there will be plenty of backfill opportunities once all the SHRs are hired.

The bullshit happens throughout the corporation. Nobody outside of NYC HQ is happy about it but it has become part of the increasingly dysfunctional Pfizer culture. The place really is run by lawyers.....

The job posting does say that experience with Prevnar and Trumenba is preferred. Seems pretty truthful to me. I did not post due to my location and the HQ city. Maybe a better fit next round.

The problem is that if you are already an SHR and want to move laterally to the Vaccines Division, you have to take a demotion in Level and become a Vaccines Territory Manager first. Then you must wait for an open SHR position in your district to come around, which they won't, and battle your ass off interviewing, just to get back up to the SHR Level you worked your ass off to get into in the first place.

Seems a bit counter-productive to me, but sometimes you have to take a step backwards to hope you can take 2 forwards in the future.

That's the attitude! Good luck. You will love Vaccines. Totally different then any other Pfizer division. Best move I ever made. Last 4 years have been great.

Ok fieldings - here's the scoop.

Vaccines is the future and we've build it out since 2009 with the lowest pay grades across all divisions, including animal health before we sold them. With the lower cost model, we are set for the future.

Vaccines is more an order taking with some sales mix model so if you are used to PCs reach and frequency silliness, you will struggle. We don't really sell as much over here but we do cultivate relationships and then leverage them. You don't ask for the next five over here.

Vaccines is 99% dependent upon the CDC. Our lobbyists are our most important tactic. As such, marketing knows they are in 2nd place and they don't try to ruin everyone's day like they do in other divisions.

So, if you can handle pay grade 2-3 levels below the corresponding role across Big Blue and you don't value yourself by how well you play the reach and frequency game then you might make it over here.

We will be here and still expanding beyond 2018. Can you say the same for your division?

Well first there is some selling especially with Trumenba. Some old timer Vaccine reps are facing a competitive sell for the first time. Secondly I must say it is nice not to have to worry about layoffs every whatever you can actually relax and settle in.

i heard there's a company wide hiring freeze until women's health is done with their changes. All positions are supposed to be reposted at the end of October. Is anyone else hearing this?

It is clear to us in GIP that Vaccines is not interested in us as it is rare that GIP can get a lateral, much less a promotion. The arrogance of your division has no bounds.

With the CDC guidelines supporting you, a monkey could excel promoting this vaccines bag. You want a different sell? Try selling scheduled Lyrica against generic gabapentin. That my little vaccines friend, is a different sell indeed.
