I've never had a serious health issue until this year when I found that I have to pay 1000 bucks out of pocket before novartis health plan kicks in. C'mon man.. An ordinary employee's out of pocket pays very rarely exceeds 1000 bucks. It is totally useless nonsense..
Now I am looking for a company caring more for their employees health plan. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

The Cadillac of national insurance plans, Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield is what Congress has for itself. It has a $6,000.00 out of pocket annual deductible. Otoh, it has no restrictions on physicians you can see, need for referrals, etc. Your co-pay is $30.00 and it pays 85% of all out of pocket costs upfront. The co-pay and remaining 15% goes towards the $6,000 annual deductible. Yes, there is life after Novartis. I left it in the Midwest and went to work for one of my state's senator as deputy chief of staff. Once your guy gets past his first term, you have a job for life!

Thanks. I heard that Merck, Amgen and some midsize companies have better health plans similar to that.
Wonder if that is correct, or is it true that industry representatives communicate with each other to align all plans so that employees won't have much choices? Isn't that against the law?

I have worked for three different Pharm companies and have to say that this is the worst health plan that I have participated in. Express Scripts is a nightmare to deal with.

What a pity.. If any other company had that exciting pipeline, would do their best to keep the talented and skillful. Seems like they are not aware of the hidden cost of average and low level employees.
