HR Monitor:: We just found this post while monitoring all web sites for Abbott posts. There are NO LAYOFFS in the planning stage. Business has improved significantly. RUMORMONGERS keep posting untruthful stories about layoffs. THERE ARE NONE. Enjoy your weekend, get to work early tomorrow and SELL, SELL, SELL ! ! !

Wow. That's terrible! Especially seeing as the mysterious "HR Monitor" said August 23rd that there were NO layoffs in the planning. Seems like this isn't a very stable company after all............

I work in GIS and have witnessed the layoffs today. It was a unfortunate day. The package wasnt bad. Their will be more to come before the end of year. Got outsourced to India based company im sure and i hear they will be coming to train up soon to learn the ropes before more layoffs happen. Don't show them all you know...

Your post is substantiates why ABT has failed in so many ways: we hire the village idiots. Not one person here was so naive and thick to think there was an HR Monitor. Except you. While we were all laughing our arses off at the satire if all those exchanges, the whole thing went over your empty head. And then your comment on stability! You're making us wet out pants laughing!

There will always be "another reorganization" because the "current" management lack viable leadership sills or any other viable plan. It's much easier to layoff the few remaining working staff and rearrange the management deck chairs. The "current" leadership will not be around long enough to receive just reward.

HR Monitor:: You are incorrect, my friend. HR has always monitored all known internet sites that target Company comments. The purpose being to get the mood and rumor flow of rank and file non managers. WE also seek to correct gross misinformation and to forward posts making personal attacks to the targeted manager, for their follow-up action.

The title HR Monitor is used so that all sanctioned commenters can be filtered. The only official title is "HR Monitor::" We HR posters are but a small but active group of interns working in the HR office seeking to gain experience in employee issues and we have a desire to spend our career in HR. Many are volunteers. All posts however must be reviewed by HR officials. So laugh all you want.

As far as the post last month about no planned layoffs....that was accurate at that point in time.

There will ALWAYS be layoffs. Manpower adjustments are a fact of life in corporate American. But it has gotten worse. That is why many good employees split even if they are needed, because the tool of the pick slip is always present in the work place. So they find a fresh start elsewhere and more money.

In a company like Abbott those who get through the layoffs are often not the best employees but just the politically correct for that Abbott division. I have seen directors order bad reviews for those they don't like or just want to eliminate. If you work for a group for years and do a good job but fall on the wrong side of things after a reorg, the new management just stuffs it up your bum. They don't care what good you have done the company.

It's becoming tough to be a manager here....
