Novartis just laid off 172 sales reps/dms at Alcon. Less than 24 hours later, some of those positions were posted. How can they lay off an employee and post their position? Isn't this illegal? Is this common practice at Novartis?
Indeed! That's what it means by "Right to Work" legislation. "Employment at Will" :-((((( Of course they invent imaginative terms for the "release, selection, downsize, right size, redundancy" etc etc. We've all been there or eventually will be. Think of all the money that would be saved by eliminating embarrassing Team Building sessions and shuttering the silly "HR" offices.
HA!! Good luck with that exercise in futility. And especially if you are over 40...TOAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Texas is a right to work state but Alcon is under Novartis which is a NJ company. The right to work does not apply to Novartis/Alcon because of the NJ based company.
I completely understand the "over 40 you're a dinosaur in the industry" if you're stuck in primary care. There are so many jobs in this industry that are nothing like the job you're stuck in and they require a more seasoned rep. Get your head out of the primary care sand and look around.
