When I started out with AZ 3 years ago I legitimately worked. I soon realized that my efforts were futile and began to slowly peal away the real calls. By the end I had about 3-4 months where I only made 1 real call a day and sometimes none.

My manager knew what was going on but just played the game. We went to the same offices every time he rode with me and said the same thing to every doctor, every time. The script is not sales. You are a walking billboard, bought for less than what it would cost them to put an actual ad on a billboard.

I left and am happier about what I do now.

Wonder what percentage of the salesforce lies about a full days worth of calls?

Rookie days..I was out pounding the streets 8-5...few months into this wonderful career I walked into a large office late on a nice summer afternoon on .a Friday...the recpt's mouth dropped open when she saw me.."what are you doing here!?" was her greeting..headed back to 'detail' my target!..more stares and curious double take looks as I stood in sample closet..finally a doc came by and gave me a signature on his way out the door (I am drug rep so kinda of dense but it was a light bulb moment! What the hell was I doing? Friday pm's aren't made for making calls)

Finally got up enough nerve to try the "all day lie", and I mean all day! It was soooo easy, and soooo good! Although I think all day is pushing it a little to far, I think a max of 3 hours per day fits perfectly. I can get everything I need to do within the 3 hours. Hiding among the weeds is very easy!

I have been interviewing for other positions within and outside of Pharma for over 12 months and still cannot find anything that pays close to this gig. But I am not sure the money can make me tolerate this insanely boring job. The money just doesn't replace the empty feeling I have that I am wasting my life away. I just can't do this any more and would likely take some of the offers I have turned down if I could go back in time.

Not me bucko! I love it here! WHere the hell can you go and work 3 hours a day for over $100K? NOWHERE THAT'S WHERE! I worked a whole 2 hours today! 2 damn hours! Yes, i am bored. Yes, my access sucks, so I just lie. But, even after saying that, I will continue to enjoy AZ's teat as long as I can !!!!!!!!!!

I am getting chill bumps thinking about my All Day Lie Friday coming up tomorrow! This will be my first ALL DAY LIE, so I must admit I am a little nervous. I've had a great week faking most of my calls, so tomorrow should be fine! Thanks AZ for this great tradition!

Good advice generally but understand there are tenants who live the all month lie. The rental business is difficult, mainly because the people who should pay their rent are a lot like the people in this string a lot of times. Hold out for a good renter and you can sit vacant for 5 months, the tax and insurance bills keep coming. Don't borrow money to buy rental property, pay cash or do something else.

I used to worry about getting caught taking days off but not any longer. I almost think it would be a blessing to be free of this boring, mind cell killing, worthless job. It might feel good to finally be free of this place, but the money is just too damned good to pass up. Where else can I go where leadership is also in on the cheating game and is more than willing to look the other way? I worked a grand total of 18 hours this week and never spoke a single word to a physician.
