So, are you saying LP left? Thats hard to believe and if true, a real loss.

Yes, Lance Perry left this week. He was hand picked by DD as most know. He was the one Biomet guy coming from zimmer I wanted to work with.

Why did he leave. Better offer? or "otherwise"? Makes no sense.

as a zimmer legacy employee, I would ask why did it even take a month? Hilarious post and so well done.

I almost shot milk out of my nose when I read this!! Nice try.
I have worked for a number of people in my career and this guy was the worst. In two years he managed to run off most of the knee development talent due to his micromanaging and bullying. To say he was a joke would imply there was something funny about him - there is not. He was an ungrateful, loose cannon who stepped on people and didn't have a clue what it took to develop, validate and launch a product. If nothing else comes of the merger - his departure was one good thing for the new company.
He will likely get a big severance and end up in a nice job with another company so he can start making more lives miserable.
    Good riddance!

I don't think your talking about Lance Perry. All of his "people" are still there and were working for him both in marketing and development. He's admired by current and former Biomet employees. Never heard one bad word about him. Distributors, Dr's also had the utmost respect for him.

Maybe your referring to a zimmer guy. It is clearly not LP or your post is a poor joke.

The "best" development talent is still working at ZB only because of LP! I agree, this can't be a shot at Lance. NO ONE MORE Respected. I can list every current director of both marketing and development and they would do anything for him. I am a 22 year employee of former BIOMET fwiw.
DD begged him to take the job by the way.

I think the Biomet folks on here are getting bent out of shape over nothing. I left Z, but I'm guessing they're cynically referring to the Zimmer GM of knees, who was a real piece of work.

You are correct - we are bemoaning the loss of SW from Zimmer. Gonna miss that guy. It was always so inspiring to see all the joy get sucked out of a room when he walked in. He really knew how to raise morale also - when he moved his office out of the main knee area, morale went up immediately. When he left - it went through the roof.
I hear he went to work for a vendor - good luck to those guys. At least Zimmer was big enough you could sort of hide from the guy.

Under the category "you can't make this shit up", here is SW's new LinkedIn description
    "Summary
Exectutive leader in the medical device industry with over 20 years of experience in the orthopedic industry. Various leadership roles in RD, Sales, Marketing, and Operations at Zimmer, Medtronic, and Wright Medical."

    See anything wrong with it?

He truly was a piece of art. How does someone like that get promoted? More scary? I stood in an OR with Mr McCaulley in August 2011 and described each of the steps of the total knee we were watching go in as it was happening. I learned at that time that he knew nothing of total knees, and at the same time...wait for it....ran the entire business unit! OMG.

newsflash dumbass, executives at that level, especially in the C-Suite never know about the details that reps know. Most of them went to Harvard/Penn/Yale and have the pedigree/knowledge of administrative leaders. If you can tell me ONE C-level executive at any company that started in sales selling the products that they are ultimately responsible for at that level, then I will rescind my comment, but I know for a fact, the CEO's of Stryker, Zimmer, etc did not start in sales.
