If there is an overlap of say 3-4 days between my new employer let's call it NVS and my previous let's call it Pfizer, will that be an issue if I ever leave Novartis and go through a background check with new company?

Just a 3-4 day double dip. Honest answers please as it doesn't seem to be a big deal but could be wrong.

DO NOT do it. Big red flag. Employers do give dates and even a 1 day gap is a red flag. 2 days or more is very very bad. Not worth it.

I don't see an issue with this if it's just 3 -4 days. In many companies they let you go before your 2 weeks notice is up and just pay you the two weeks so it's easy to say start your new job earlier than anticipated. I believe dates that are given from HR and month and year and even if the actual date is provided an overlap of 3 days isn't going to hurt you.

Bad advice. A 1 day gap is a huge red flag. 2 days is definitely pushing it and 3 days is downright seen as unethical and possibly criminal.

Not worth it OP! Better to play it safe and have 2-4 day gap in between jobs. Better safe than sorry.

I took a terminal vacation in addition to the 2 weeks notice and worked immediately for my new company. I have a federal security clearance, received a year after the couple month double dip and have had no ramifications

Your new company will NOT check your last day of employment. They will verify you work there and that's all they can legally do. Put your two week in the day you start your new job..... Two weeks paid on this unethical crap hole. I'm in home study for two weeks and still am here. Riding with my manager next week and won't give my two week until I leave for training ..... Screw Novartis . Not illegal either....

The problem is NOT with the new company it will be with the company after that should you leave new company. They will do a background check and if dates overlap even by one day you will be questioned. Not worth it!
