Don't believe that Merck is doing this out of the kindness of their heart. It's probably some stunt to avoid a lawsuit of some sort. One of the last things a dying, bureaucratic corporation with way too much upper management wants to do is take away a day of work for the drones.

 

I remember Fred Hassan gave employees one extra day off as a symbolic give back to thank the employees. A few months later Fred announced that Merck was going to acquire Schering-Plough.

The CEO, board of directors and senior executives get even better benefits than Union workers and every other worker in the company!

 

They have the executive benefit plan....no copay or out of network charges. They pay nothing and have top notch benefits while the worker bees have deductibles and put of pocket costs.

 

...yet look how well these top executives have run Merck since the demise of VIOXX. They certainly haven't deserved any type of incentives and bonuses because they have ruined the reputation and profitability of the company just to name a few. They should be thankful for only getting health benefits because they destroyed a lot of people's lives - patients and employees alike!

 

This is the way it is, everywhere....the one's who can afford to pay out the most get bargain basement prices...while the one's who are making squat get the highest prices....the way of the world....the rich get richer the working Joe gets fast tracked to the poor house! Next job search settle for nothing less than a real deal executive title!! ...lol

 

This is actually true. Surprised it wasn't brought up before. I know the SVP and up executives at Merck have a 100 percent medical coverage policy including a dental plan with a 15 thousand dollar deductible. The dental plan makes sense.... You need very good white teeth to run this company!
