Merck Oncology is well below the competitive industry standard in so many ways: 1. No one else in oncology has shittier company cars, a Chevy Malibu, really?. 2. No one else in oncology reimburses $35/month for cell phone/internet. 3. No one else in oncology is forbidden to work with their medical science team. hsomad- what is your name again? 4. No one else in oncology cares about Merck's above the industry norm ethics and compliance. 5. The list goes on and on. 6. Where is the Merck oncology pipeline?

Merck oncology once had some amazing talent and paid for it- very well. Recruited some really great people. They all left for better things. Once the division became primary care light it was over. Only thing left are tired products and boring primary care reps that masquarade as onc reps. Not a clue do they have of this market and the science. Sad.

You are correct. The initial movement was to educate the group at the highest level, that went by the wayside quickly. In fact the effort to educate was stymied by incompetent medical director and management.
Moona had a vision but if you are an original member of the group you can remember she quickly left. Sad outcome.

It's all about reach and frequency now. And not only that, it's about what the report says were reported calls, not the actual calls that were reported. So even if you made the calls, reported them correctly, the report doesn't capture it , and you are screwed. So you spend time documenting what you already did, instead of actually calling on customers. Makes so much sense.

Those of you that are true oncology professionals should get out ASAP. You have a history of success take advantage of what you have done and get a real oncology position before you are stigmatized.

Just do your job, enter your calls and they will work things out. Have a little faith. the new leadership has proven themselves.

Hope employees answer the next Merck oncology "survey" truthfully and honestly!

If you think a survey is going to be taken seriously by management think again. If you are a tested oncology pro get out and join a real oncology company. The vast majority of management as well as reps are totally useless don't get painted with their inferiority.

So sad to see this division dying. Once was so amazing a place to be. I was brought in like others at amazing salaries. We all moved on. All that is left is mismanaged products, old schering has beens and awful primary care managers that needed a place to land. no one is producing or working but spending every hour trying to find an out.

Wish i got in when it was real. Doesn't feel like an oncology division, I was so excited to become the best in sales an oncology rep. Feels like I am back selling allegra. Offices keep asking about the rep that was here before and adore him. I will be the first to admit I don't understand oncology. But merck put me in this position. I feel set up to fail. No real training anymore. Don't blame the reps we are all set up to fail and have no one to learn from.

Do yourself a tremendous favor, get out now, don't wait. The company is not a respected oncology firm. Go where you are appreciated. Management is the pits and practically all reps inept.

The Oncology reps in Oregon are excellent. Professional and knowledgeable.

I began interviewing on Monday. I cant stand the low professionalism of the management staff and total lack of training. Gone and gone soon.

Agree, now we have a contracted reimbursement & nursing team and we look like fools. When we introduce them the questions come up and it is conveyed that they don't work for Merck etc. All of the top recognized onc companies have a dedicated reimbursement, nursing and medical affairs team....we are 2nd class and a joke.

Merck oncology leadership - make a few basic changes and your team will be happy. Increase the internet/cell monthly reimbursement, fix the shit fleet vehicle selection and add personal vehicle option with mileage package, allow reps to intro medical team and work with them on basic facts, make speakers list company info, pay speakers competitive rates, give reps options to better field email and allow email invites. Fix old software programs such as comet. Start operating like a real oncology division! Your senior reps are sitting on big pensions and are miserable. New people from expansion are disappointed. Start listening to the bitch sessions!

Wait a minute, Merck gave you a shot at selling in oncology, and getting away from b.s. allergy medicines, and yet you complain that you cannot surpass the admiration of the prior rep? You blame training? Ever think that you just suck?

Sounds like Merck's overestimated you by far. I'll wave at you when I pass the soup kitchen!
