I would really like an honest opinion of how current and past employees feel about how managers treat their territory managers. Being in sales, I know you have to play the game. This is the third medical company I have worked for and I think the team dynamic is a joke. The power struggle amongst the group is like nothing I have ever seen. Due to my husbands job relocating to another state and needing to find a job that didn't require a lot of overnights, I took the position at Applied and have been here a little over a year. I am very easy going, have hit my quota every quarter thus far but being a female on my team has been a struggle. My other female colleague feels the same way. Is this normal with Applied? Does anyone else feel the same way? By any means, I am not here looking for sympathy, I was shocked to see how this company operates.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.........all kidding aside, this company is a joke and not respected by reps, recruiters, hospitals or surgeons. It sounds like you are new so i'll fill you in on some of the things that go on at corporate: unethical hirings/firings (they don't do thorough background checks), the firings you have obviously heard about, it's an old boys club of former U.S. Surgical managers that couldnt manage a bunch of turtles and would probably kill them off within a few weeks. Said Hilal is only looking out for his family members and those that married in. Certain banks have been telling him to sell from the loans he took out years ago for awhile now but he refuses due to his gross ignorance. Moral is one of the worse in the industry, pay is average to below average most qtrs, I could keep going on and on, but my advice is don't post to Cafepharma on your company iPad because one of Said's HR generalists monitors this site. Do your time, keep your chin up, keep looking and you will find a new job soon. Most reps only use Applied as a stepping stone to bigger and better things or as a stop-gap. Stay thirsty my friend.

It's a well known fact that some women emit a foul odor during menstruation. Try avoiding your colleagues during that time of the month and see if your situation improves.

Thanks for your honest feedback. If you don't mind me asking, why are you still with Applied? I am on my 5th manager and this one has to be the worst. He likes to micromanage from his couch and its really frustrating. It just sucks bc you spend all of your time doing reports and on lengthy conference calls that don't accomplish anything.

As a manager, it's disappointing to hear of your frustration and how you're being treated. I can say that this shouldn't be the case but I've noticed the same "old boys" network in place and can't disagree with others statements about the culture. When I came on board as a rep, they said that this was different but apparently they meant different than a true professional organization that treats its employees like adults and realizes that this is 2015 not 1990. The unfortunate thing is that this element of unprofessionalism is rampant, starting with the Zone Directors and senior level management and works its way down. The sad truth is that most people will leave before any real changes take hold.

It is an excellent environment. Great culture. The company focuses on your talent and carter development. Very nice pay and bonus.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's a very immature atmosphere, lots of finger pointing and backstabbing. There are so many open territories, you would think that would have a clue with such high turnover. The politics in this company is like nothing I have ever seen.

You must be the spokesperson from Applied medicals "jiggery-pokery" department.

I no longer work at Applied. I worked for one of the better medical devices companies before Applied and work for an even better one now. To the earlier posters point about not being a public company (yet), Said is purposeful in doing that because he can protect "his people", does not have to be held accountable for his actions to Wall Street, and ultimately has zero transparency. He is protecting many who have been with him since the beginning (i.e. JD, DG etc) and it is very much the old boys club. A couple years ago I overheard DG talking to one of his higher level managers in confidence making fun of the reps who post on here and basically saying we know nothing. In my opinion, he would never last at a public company in 2015. Him, DW, DM, etc all run their zones like its 1998. Micromanagement, spreadsheets that serve no purpose (I'm talking about you DM you little twit who needs to retire or otherwise already), CRM hell, unnecessary conf calls for 2 hrs at a time, etc etc serve no purpose except justifying the jobs of middle management. Every other real sales organization wants their reps being productive in the field, not out on a fishing boat or on their couch. But what do I know? I only have 15+ years in this industry.

My question to you where did you go and how did you get out? I thought coming here would be a nice move but I, like so many others, was wrong. Lied to, told things that were knowingly untrue and all by disciples of DG, DW and DM. That's not a coaching tree to be proud of!

Keep your head up, put the face on, justify your existence by doing the silly mindless spreadsheets/conference calls, stick around for 2 years if you can, and interview a lot. Interviewing is an art as well as a numbers game. The more you do it, the better you will become. You will undoubtedly land on your feet somewhere. I have yet to meet a rep who has stuck at Applied for more than 3 years. That should tell you something about that place. The sad thing is they are proud of it.

When you quit, did they pay you the commission they owed you or did they try to screw you over?

They screwed me and I had documentation to prove it. It was only a couple grand, but to get lawyers involved to sue them, my lawyer wanted a few hundred and said at the end of the day, although I had a legitimate case, I would only be walking away with a few hundred dollars. This company is D-League and will never be in the Pros.

Add one. The people who can't pass a drug test. No applied drug test you just have to pass Reptrax and vendor clear once. Smoke all the weed you want after that. M
