Can your messages be traced? Or completely anonymous?

Nothing posted is 100% anonymous. A company can do legal things to force CafePharma to rellease info. There is software that can hack into accounts to find posting strings.

Its best not to post anything you would not want traced back to YOU.

Per our terms of use, we do not record IP addresses or any other identifying information with anonymous posts. Even with a subpoena, there would be no information to provide.

We do always recommend using a personally-owned computer/device and connection to post, as it is possible that your company may track your Internet activity on company equipment and/or connections.

Great posts..I always thought anything could be traced via IP addresses. Looks like Sarah cleared that up for this site. But until you know a company's policy on tracking/recording IP addresses, I would always use caution. Thanks!

    Kudos to Cafepharma.

BTW, there is a free open-source app called Tor (torproject.org) that can give you military-grade privacy, if you're still concerned. The app relays strongly encrypted HTTP requests through multiple intermediate servers, so there's (almost) no way to find the origin of the request.

Best thing to do is to take your friend's tablet/ipad to Starbucks and post from there...

I got to a site called "hidemyass.com" seriously. It is a site located in Pakistan or some other war torn country. I If someone were to trace me it would show that IP address. It is a sort of relay site for me.

No. We know who the resentful, angry fired/retired ex-employees are who post nonsense, lies, rumors and innuendo. Like the guy in Florida.

try using a proxy server. That might help you remain anonymous. If you have a friend that is an IT person, maybe you can get some info on websites on how to remAin anonymous. There are some just look them up and keep up the good work

    Dear Admin:

Can a company determine the identitiy of an annonomous poster by using an outside security IT company?

The poster used a home computer to post.

Or is it impossible to determine who postered as an outside company..?
