Looking at Volcano... any thoughts on the technology? How has IVUS impacted the stent marketplace, and is it growing or unnecessary technology?

Are these reps competing with you for share of voice in the lab, or are they seen as complimentary to those of you selling stents?

I know Volcano has the market share, do they actually do it best?

Finally, I hear that Abbott made an offer to buy the company, but it was rejected. Why?

    Thanks for your thoughts...

VOLC in trouble long term imo, they make numbers by a "land grab" where they make hospitals by disposables to jstfiy low capital prices. When you break down volc numbers, they barely make any money,

IVUs is day by day losing biz to OCT(like black and white vs high def tv) and though FFR is growing? VOLC has a weak pipeline especially if it can't get its OCT on the market. when SJM adds IVUS to its new combo oct.ffr product? ballgame........... stay tuned.........

I think MDT will buy VOLC(good match) and Abbott will be forced to buy SJM(much higher upside in several markets.

JNJ will then buy BSX , etc.

I recently heard Volcano will layoff sales in October. Is this true? As bad as the company is I tend to believe it.

Again, MDT will but them imo, they hang on to a few trainers/top reps and then, get rid of the VOLC sales force once MDT reps are trained.

At least the MDT reps will have something to do (besides buying lunch all day).

Stent jobs right now are like Ethicon suture jobs or Kimberly Clark drape jobs, scan inventory and buy lunch

Yea, asking the lab what it wants for lunch today is going to be a tall order from some(how much adenosine do we need and what image am I looking at)

The only reps more WORTHLESS than a stent rep are valve reps, professinal box openers at 25o k per year.

Talk about dead wood(I know one and he MIGHT work 20 hours a week while playing gold 2-3 days a week)

Stealing money as the MDs don't change and according to this 15ish year long tenured rep. rely on long term data only when selecting a valve, and/or fear of not being in a TAVR trial soon.
