I am thinking of relocating to Austin from SoCal with GSK. Any reps in that area with any info on access, management, and culture? Thanks!
[ QUOTE ] I am thinking of relocating to Austin from SoCal with GSK. Any reps in that area with any info on access, management, and culture? Thanks! [/ QUOTE ] I lived in austin 17 years. Great spot to be. Good mix of thinking and the music scene is great. Austin has something for everyone. Medical commuity is easy to get along with. My suggestion is to go visit for a long weekend or three. I think you will love it there.
[ QUOTE ] I'm not a liberal, that's one of the reasons I'm leaving... [/ QUOTE ] Sorry to tell you this, but Austin is a very liberal town. But it is beautiful with lots of lakes and night life.
Austin = liberalism at its best. Why move to an area like this, if you share most of America's views on homos and lesbos? Think about that... you KNOW what's right and what's wrong. Costs too much, too.
I would move there in a heartbeat. I am neither Republican or Democrat. I am closer to libertarians but none of that matters. Austin will take cowboys and hippies, straights, gays, saints and sinners, weirdos and entreprenuers and make them all appreciate good beer and great music and the outdoors.
If you are conservative, live in Georgetown. (30 min. North). You can always visit the freaks in Austin. I love the freaks!!! Keep Austin Weird!
Anyone know info for recruiters in Austin? I've had 6 years of successful pharma experience but was part of a recent lay-off....now, I'm having a HORRIBLE time getting an interview. HELP!
If you were part of the SP layoff then change the company name to your division name IE White, Essex Pharmaceuticals etc. Not a lie.....just a stretch. Once you have the IV you get the chance to tell your story. I am sure it is a good one with a great track record or you may want to consider getting out of pharma....now is the time.
No real opportunities ever open up in Austin. All the openings are always filled from inside reps that want to move to Austin.
Yes there are opportunities here, just do a wide net search of all internet job boards. Also, if the so cal job seeker, based out of Austin comes back and reads this, heres my advice...get your little butt to So. Cal and find out for yourself if you like it. How fricken far is the drive if you can't afford airfare. Get your ass on the road. YOu can't come on here and ask a bunch of anonymous posters this question. They aren't YOU. If you are conservative, I doubt anywhere in CA. will be the place for you, but you have to find out for yourself, so go for it. Thats the only way you'll be able to make up your own mind. You have to go there and go for at least 4 days minimum. You want to change your world, take charge and best of luck!
