I'm in the medical device field and now I am a patient. I had a sports related knee injury, hyperextension while running, went in for a arthroscopic clean up. The clean up was successful but we ended up seeing some large voids on my articulating cartilage that weren't visible on the MRI. The voids were most likely caused by my injury.

10 months later my knee is worse, full range of motion is back, however my knee is very unstable and hurts twice as much as before. Lots of clicking in the knee but no locking up. Some days I don't feel comfortable carrying around the baby. I can bike but definitely cannot run.

I'm not happy with my previous surgeon. He seems a little confused on how to proceed. He is now attempting to treat this with pain killers. Physical therapy is no longer helping me.

Where is the best place around? Do I just need to make sure I get into the NE Baptist? Is it Dr Richmond or his partner?

I'm hurting, any thoughts from reps in these ORs will be helpful.

    Thanks!

I believe that both Dr's Thornhill and Minas at the BWH just made the list of the best knee surgeons in the USA. It was a "Top 125" listed alphabetically

  3. I went through a tough time finding my doctor for my shoulder in NYC. I did my research and found someone who cared about his job and held numerous association positions as well as being asked to present and moderate many sessions at conferences such as AAOS. I think this is the best research you can do, besides a conversation.

At his office I was assigned to a doctor in his practice and he was ready to send me home to live with my pain :rolls eyes: when the doctor I picked out came in and said "not so fast", moved me in a couple of different ways and knew I had a problem and what it was. My point is a lot of doctors don't give you the time of day or have the experience to be thorough and unfortunately there is not an easy way to find this out. The insurance company handling my case (a workers comp case) sent me to another doctor in NJ but my lawyer made them change to Dr Jon P. Warner, Chief, Director and Professor at MGH, Brigham and Harvard Med in BOSTON for their second opinion. He was extremely thorough and it turned out he had actually taught my surgeon in NY. He made me feel comfortable and wrote a very detailed report about my injury. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr Warner and if he doesn't handle your case directly I know for certain that he will put you in good hands. Although he didn't do my surgery I just knew he was a top Doctor and his credentials are very respectable.

If nothing else check him out: http://www.massgeneral.org/ortho/doctors/doctor.aspx?id=16757

You can never have too many 2nd opinions, this is your body and your life.

    I hope this was helpful
